– Make sure that the address that is given belongs to the locksmith.
– If a company answers the phone with a generic phrase, ask for the legal name of the business. If the person refuses, call another locksmith.
– A real locksmith should confirm your identity and make sure you’re the property owner before doing any work.
– Some locksmiths will work out of a car for quick or emergency jobs, but most will arrive in a service vehicle that is clearly marked with their company’s name.
– If it is not an emergency, ask friends and relatives for recommendations.
– Ask for an estimate over the phone. Make sure that when they arrive that the price is close to the estimate and not too low or too high.
– Ask if the locksmith is insured in case your property is damaged during the repair.
