Restoration work around Vancouver’s Jericho beach is finally complete

After three years of construction the restoration of Vancouver’s Jericho beach has been completed.

The old wharf is gone, and in its place are new trails and a restored foreshore.

Some didn’t want to see the wharf torn down, but the structure was found to be too unsafe and unstable to maintain.

In total, the project cost two million dollars, which included remediating the toxic soil and restoring the surrounding green space.

One of the themes of the restoration was reusing and recycling — one of the new railings is actually an original part of the Lions Gate Bridge.
