There was a major police presence downtown Tuesday afternoon, after a bank robbery at Portage and Main at about 2 p.m.
Officers could be seen standing by at corners around the iconic intersection, and the TD Bank in the underground concourse at 201 Portage Ave. was closed. A sign on the door said there had been “an emergency” and directed to customers to another TD location.

A Winnipeg police spokesman confirmed to Global News there had been a “financial robbery;” there were no injuries and no arrests.
Police were also searching for suspect after a bank robbery in the 1400 block of Portage Avenue shortly after the downtown incident.
