The team has also placed OL Patrick Neufeld and LB Mike McCullough on a nine-game injured list.

The Riders won their opening pre-season game on Friday night with a 31-24 victory over the Edmonton Eskimos on a last-minute interception return for a touchdown by former Saskatoon Hilltop Graig Newman.

The strong play of QB Tino Sunseri in this game brought him up on the depth chart, allowing the Riders to release Brown, who was a fourth-string pivot last year with the team.
