The average weekly salary earnings in Saskatchewan jumped 7.7 percent in October, putting them ahead of the national average.

Saskatchewan’s average earnings are now at $875.47, just over $12 higher than the $863.33 Canadian average. Albertan’s still earn the highest in the country ($1,012.54) followed by workers in Ontario ($889.84).

“Yesterday we celebrated a new all-time population record in Saskatchewan and the news today highlights that the benefits of our economic growth are being shared with increasing numbers of people across the province” says Advanced Education, Employment and Immigration Minister Rob Norris.

The ministry also points out that Saskatchewan’s 7.7 average earnings increase far exceeds the province’s Consumer Price Index of 2.1 per cent in the same month.

“With Saskatchewan expected to lead the nation in economic growth in the New Year, there is reason for continued optimism” said Norris.
