Henderson Library closing for improvements

Winnipeggers had a chance to stop by the Henderson Library Saturday afternoon — to check out plans for its expansion.

The branch will close on Monday for six months for renovations.

While the work is done, extra programs will be offered at the Munroe library, which will be open longer as well.

The Henderson Library is the second busiest branch in the city — after the downtown branch — in terms of materials loaned.

Jeff Browaty, the city councillor for the area, says residents will benefit from the expansion and updates.

“The expansion is going to have a lot more frontage space. It’s going to have a lot more space for reading and for programming. There’s a couple additional computer terminals for people to use. It’s just going to be a much bigger/better branch for the people of northeast Winnipeg,” says Browaty.

While the library is closed, patrons will be able to pick up held items and return books at the Bronx Park Community Centre, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
