Global unveils fall prime time schedule

TORONTO – Global unveiled its prime time schedule for Fall 2013 on Wednesday, adding big-buzz new shows to its roster of hits like Glee, NCIS, Elementary and Chicago Fire.

“Coming off of a blockbuster year for Global, we set out determined to land the most anticipated and star-stacked series to add to our schedule,” said Barbara Williams, Senior Vice President, Content, Shaw Media.

“The addition of gothic horrors, gritty dramas, nail-biting thrillers and a brand new slate of comedies complement our returning flagship series, making for an exceptional schedule that will hook audiences the entire season.”

Canadians like Will Arnett, Michael J. Fox and Diego Klattenhoff are among the stars with new series on Global.

James Spader plays a fugitive helping the FBI track down criminals on the highly anticipated new series The Blacklist, which takes over Hawaii Five-0’s Monday night time slot. The latter moves to Fridays at 9 p.m.

A reboot of Ironside, starring Blair Underwood as the titular wheelchair-bound detective, debuts Wednesday nights at 10 p.m.

Speaking of new twists on familiar tales, Global is adding Dracula, starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers, to Fridays at 10 p.m. and Sleepy Hollow to Mondays at 9 p.m.

In November, the sci-fi action adventure Almost Human comes to Monday nights at 8 p.m.

Global is bringing new laughs to Canada, including Sean Saves the World and The Michael J. Fox Show on Wednesdays at 9 and 9:30 p.m. respectively.

Thursday night comedies include Welcome to the Family and The Millers starting at 8 p.m.

Queen Latifah’s new daytime talk show will kick off in September on Global.

Global also announced its mid-season roster, which includes Chicago PD, Crossbones, Rake, Reckless, Remedy and 24: Live Another Day.

Bomb Girls will wrap up with a two-hour finale set for the winter.

Here’s a look at the Fall 2013 schedule on Global:

MondayBones returns at 8 p.m. followed by new shows Sleepy Hollow and The Blacklist. Almost Human will take over the Bones time slot in November.

TuesdayNCIS and NCIS:LA will air at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. respectively followed at 10 p.m. by Chicago Fire.

Wednesday – At 8 p.m. it’s Survivor followed by three new shows: Sean Saves the World at 9 p.m., The Michael J. Fox Show at 9:30 p.m. and Ironside at 10 p.m..

Thursday – New shows Welcome to the Family and The Millers are on at 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. followed by returning favourites Glee at 9 p.m. and Elementary at 10 p.m.

FridayParenthood is back at 8 p.m. followed by Hawaii Five-0 at 9 p.m. and the new series Dracula at 10 p.m.

Saturday – Prime time starts with Obsessions at 8 p.m. and ends with Walk the Walk at 10 p.m. Repeat airings of crime shows will air at 9 p.m.

SundayWe Are Men is on at 7:30 p.m. followed by animated favourites The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy and American Dad. The Good Wife returns to 10 p.m.
