“He was arrested on a side street in the city of Barrie,” Peter Leon, the Barrie Police Service’s corporate communications co-ordinator, told Global News. “He was operating the motor vehicle that was, in fact, the vehicle of interest that we were trying to identify.”

Over the last several days, Barrie police were trying to identify a dark blue pickup truck, which Leon said the suspect was driving when he was arrested Thursday at about 5:30 p.m.

“That vehicle is now in police custody, and we’re in the process of obtaining a search warrant to carry out our investigation with regards to the vehicle,” Leon said.

According to Leon, the vehicle sustained damage, although he can’t say where.

At about 2:45 a.m. on Nov. 1, officers say they responded to a report of an injured man at Wellington and Toronto streets.
