Man killed in Ogden industrial accident

CALGARY – A rail service company in Ogden is mourning the loss of one their workers after an industrial accident.

Emergency crews were called to the 6300 block of Ogden Dale Road around 7:30 a.m. on Monday.

A 57-year-old employee at Arrow Reload Systems Inc. was killed after falling under a rail car. Occupational Health and Safety says the man was descending a ladder on one of the cars to apply a hand brake when he fell.

Management of the company initially didn’t want to comment on the incident, except to say it has shaken staff at the facility.

Calgary police have offered help to those employees.

“We’ve called out the victim’s assistance unit to help the staff members here,” says Duty Staff Sgt. John McCarthy.”This is a tragic event that nobody wants to have happen, so that’s why we call them out for any type of care that’s required.”
