REGINA – An audit has been done of the University of Regina’s research policies following a controversy involving a carbon capture centre.
The university says Saskatchewan’s auditor has found that rules for research and commercialization of research could be improved
University president Vianne Timmons says the auditor has made 26 recommendations on oversight, updating policies and procedures, evaluating risks and monitoring compliance.
But specific details won’t be made public until June when the auditor tables a report with the legislature.
Timmons says the school is working on change and will lay out an action plan in July.
The auditor was asked to do the review after questions were raised about how $2.1 million was spent on IT services at a carbon capture research centre affiliated with the university.
