Mark Woolley has been living with Type 1 Diabetes since he was 12. Now, he’s preparing for the NHL draft as a defenceman with the Owen Sound Attack.
On this episode of Around the OHL, hosts Jake Jeffrey and Mike Stubbs talk to Woolley about his experiences on and off the ice and how they impact his day to day as an OHLer.
In August, the Owen Sound defenceman launched Woolley’s Warriors in hopes of conquering diabetes and raising support and awareness for young athletes living with Type 1.
Just last season, Woolley woke up in an ambulance one morning after going into a diabetic coma during his sleep.
“I came home for a weekend to celebrate my dad’s 50th birthday, I woke up in an ambulance at four in the morning. It was definitely one of the scariest moments of my life,” Woolley told Around the OHL.
