A woman has died after she was struck by a city bus in Montreal’s Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough early Monday morning.
Around 5:35 a.m., the 51-year-old pedestrian was hit by the bus travelling south on St-Laurent Boulevard as she was crossing at Sauvé Street.
Police confirmed she was taken to hospital in critical condition. Julien Lévesque, police spokesperson, says she died of her injuries in hospital.
The bus driver was also transported to hospital to be treated for shock.
A police investigation is underway to determine the circumstances leading to the collision. Investigators also plan on speaking to witnesses.
Lévesque says the woman’s death marks the 15th fatal collision on the police force’s territory.
