Two people have been hurt in a float plane crash in Nova Scotia.
RCMP say the plane clipped power lines Tuesday afternoon while attempting to land in a lake near New Germany.

Greg Russell is a retired firefighter and lives across the street from the crash site and said his daughter Jillian was outside gardening when she witnessed the crash.
“She heard the plane coming in and she knew it was low and she knew that something was going to happen and she watched it hit the wires and cartwheeled and went straight down into the water,” said Russell.

His daughter ran inside to use the phone but the power was knocked out and so she had to use her father’s cellphone and by that time several bystanders came by to help.
“There were at least four people who walked out, swam out and waded out,” said Russell.
Mounties and firefighters helped remove a man and a woman from the plane.
Police say the two were sent to hospital with undetermined injuries. The male pilot was airlifted by helicopter to a Halifax hospital.
New Germany is about 125 kilometres west of Halifax.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
