Drugs, firearms, and explosive devices seized during Bancroft search warrant

Seven people were charged after illegal drugs, firearms, and explosive devices were seized last Thursday following a search warrant issued in Bancroft, police say.

OPP said officers seized crystal meth and cocaine, prescribed drugs like morphine and Percocet, and a variety of other illegal drugs and drug-trafficking paraphernalia from a residence on Woodview Lane. OPP also said they seized explosive devices, three firearms with ammunition, an imitation gun, one vehicle, and some cellphones.

Bancroft OPP said the residence was searched by the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU Bancroft, Centre Hastings and Quinte West) with the help of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU).

Charged were:

Justin Sleeper, 26, and Cody Sleeper of Bancroft was charged with:

  • 4 counts of possession of schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine, morphine, codeine and cocaine)
  • 2 counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • 2 counts of careless storage of a firearm
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm
  • Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition readily available
  • Possession of a stolen firearm
  • 3 counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possesion of explosives with intent to endanger life
  • Break and enter-steal a firearm
  • Trafficking a firearm

Justin was additionally charged with possession of proceeds of crime and three counts of failure to comply with a recognizance.

Richard Bowran, 54, Bancroft was charged with:

  • 3 counts of possession for purpose of trafficking Schedule I (methamphetamine, codeine, morphine)
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition readily available
  • 2 counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • 2 counts of careless storage of a firearm
  • Possession of a stolen firearm
  • 3 counts possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a substance with intent to endanger life
  • Possession of a firearm while prohibited

Lacey King, 30, of Bancroft was charged with:

  • Possession for purpose of trafficking schedule I (methamphetamine)
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm
  •  Unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition readily available
  • 2 counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • 2 counts of careless storage of a firearm
  • Possession of a stolen firearm
  • 3 counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a substance with intent to endanger life

Rosealie Barnes, 23, off Faraday Township was charged with:

  • Possession for purpose of trafficking schedule I (methamphetamine)
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition readily available
  • 2 counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • 2 counts of careless storage of a firearm
  • Possession of a stolen firearm
  • 3 counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a substance with intent to endanger life

Shayne Menard, 49, of Faraday Township was charged with:

  • 4 counts of possession for purpose of trafficking schedule I (methamphetamine, cocaine, morphine, codeine)
  • Failure to comply with an undertaking
  • 2 counts of failure to comply with probation order

Amanda Hudson, 30, of Bancroft was charged with:

  • 4 counts of possession for purpose of trafficking schedule I (methamphetamine, cocaine, morphine, codeine)

Bowran was released on a promise to appear and the other six accused were held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice.
