SASKATOON – Saskatoon is nearly ready to host an abundance of events for the 2013 MasterCard Memorial Cup, running May 17-26.
The Canadian Hockey League championship and will feature the London Knights, the Halifax Mooseheads and the Portland Winterhawks, as well as the host team, Saskatoon Blades.
Tournament schedule at Credit Union Centre (CUC):
- Game #1 Friday at 6 p.m. – London vs Saskatoon
- Game #2 Saturday at 5 p.m. – Portland vs Halifax
- Game #3 Sunday at 5 p.m. – Saskatoon vs Halifax
- Game #4 Monday at 6 p.m. – Portland vs London
- Game #5 Tuesday at 6 p.m. – Halifax vs London
- Game #6 Wednesday at 6 p.m. – Saskatoon vs Portland
- Game #7 Thursday at 6 p.m. – Tie-breaker (if necessary)
- Game #8 Friday at 6 p.m. – Semifinal
- Game #9 Sunday at 5 p.m. – Championship final
Prior to each game, a full line buffet will be available to hockey fans. The menu will be prepared by two executive chefs and provide fans with the fuel they need to cheer on their favourite teams.
Pre-game ceremonies will features Saskatchewan hockey legends like Gordie Howe, who will perform the ceremonial faceoff on May 21.

The tournament’s arrival ceremony will take place today in Kiwanis Park along with an opening banquet at Prairieland Park, featuring NHL legends Bernie Federko and six-time Stanley Cup champion Bryan Trottier as the keynote speaker.
Aside from the some of the best hockey Canada has to offer, this year’s tournament will also include concerts, PotashCorp FanFest and celebrate the CHL.
Over 20 bands will be playing the PotashCorp FanFest Rocky Night in Canada Cabarets at the New Holland Training Centre.
On May 18, Loverboy will headline with special guests Men Without Shame and The Gong Show.
The following Saturday, Honeymoon Suite, Nick Gilder & Sweeney Todd will open up for Harlequin.

A free shuttle bus is available to take participants to over 15 interactive games at the PotashCorp FanFest in the CNH Training Centre (230 Marquis Drive). Participants can access FanFest free with their game tickets, except for the cabarets which require separate tickets.
An all-new Hockey Hall of Fame exhibit with a CHL theme will be based at Midtown Plaza throughout the tournament. Displays will include the history of the Saskatoon Blades and Bernie Federko, the first Blade to be enshrined in the hall.
The CHL Awards Gala will be held on May 25 at the Remai Arts Centre.
