Infamous ‘Kitchen Nightmares’ couple plan to fight back

Samy and Amy Bouzaglo. Handout

TORONTO — Two Arizona restaurant owners featured on the season finale of Kitchen Nightmares in a less-than-flattering light are vowing to rebound and rebuild.

In a press release posted Wednesday on their Facebook page, Amy and Samy Bouzaglo said Amy’s Baking Company will re-open on Tuesday.

“Customers will be able to decide who is correct: a famous celebrity chef or the marketplace that has supported the small, locally-owned business for six years,” reads the release.

Kitchen Nightmares host Gordon Ramsay exposed a bevy of problems at the Scottsdale eatery on last Friday’s episode — including bizarre outbursts by the Bouzaglos directed at customers and employees. Ramsay criticized the food and expressed shock that the couple didn’t allow its servers to keep tips.

Ramsay declared Amy’s Baking Company a lost cause and walked out — something he’s never done on Kitchen Nightmares.

Amy Bouzaglo, who repeatedly complained on the show about being cyber-bullied, has inspired a number of unflattering memes and social media buzz.

A change.org petition urges the U.S. Department of Labor and the Wage and Hour Division to investigate the restaurant.

The Bouzaglos claim their Facebook page was hacked after the show aired and said they are “working with the local authorities as well as the FBI computer crimes unit to ensure this does not happen again.”

According to the press release, the Bouzaglos plan to “answer falsehoods depicted on a reality television show.”

“We are very upset by what has taken place, apologize about the acrimony that has ensued but now must fight back to save our business,” said Samy. “We hope and believe much good can result from what has transpired. We ask the public to keep an open mind as we begin to tell our side of the story.”
