Northwest crash causes power lines to teeter dangerously over roadway

CALGARY- Enmax had to be called in on Wednesday morning after a bad rollover caused a power pole to teeter dangerously over a busy roadway.

Police say that an elderly man was driving southbound on 4 Street N.W. near 16 Ave. when he crashed into the power pole. The pole started leaning, causing the car to flip over on its roof.

The driver was taken to hospital by EMS with minor injuries.

The dangling power lines were still live with electricity, so crews from Enmax were called. 4 Street and 16 Ave. had to be shut down as a result.

Police are trying to determine what caused the man to lose control of his vehicle.
