Teen girl allegedly sexually assaulted while walking on trail in Aurora: police

York police say they are searching for a man after a teenage girl was allegedly sexually assaulted in Aurora on Monday.

Police said officers received a call about an assault in the area of John West Way, north of Wellington Road sometime after noon.

Investigators initially said the girl was assaulted by a man who struck her with an unknown object on the trails to the west.

On Monday evening, police added the girl was also allegedly sexually assaulted and the suspect may have been armed with a handgun.

The girl was transported to hospital, but the extent of her injuries is unknown.

Police have described the suspect as a man in his 20s who was wearing a black shirt, black pants and a red baseball hat.

Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators.
