Woman in custody following stabbing on Hamilton mountain

Hamilton police say a woman is in hospital and another woman is in custody after a stabbing on the Hamilton mountain.

It happened just after 3 p.m. on Wednesday at a home in the area of Millwood Place and Carousel Avenue, near Upper Wentworth and Mohawk, where police say two women who knew each other were involved in a physical altercation.

During the fight, the 20-year-old victim was injured by a knife and was taken to hospital in stable condition.

Police say the other woman, a 25-year-old, was arrested without incident and appeared at the John Sopinka Courthouse on Thursday.

She is charged with assault with a weapon, as well as breaching two court orders.
