Fuel tanker rollover shuts down Manning Drive in northeast Edmonton

Manning Drive in northeast Edmonton was shut down in both directions for several hours due to a serious collision early Friday morning.

The closure on Manning Drive/Highway 15 is north of Anthony Henday Drive at 18 Street, where a northbound fuel tanker lost control and rolled around 4 a.m., according to authorities.

Shortly after 8 a.m., Edmonton police said the southbound lanes at Meridian Street were still closed due to the semi-truck rollover, as were the Anthony Henday Drive eastbound and westbound access lanes.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area while the scene was cleared.

Alberta Health Services said the driver of the truck was assessed by EMS on scene and didn’t need to go to hospital.
