String of businesses hit by vandalism spree in downtown Kelowna

Business owners are once again calling on more to be done after a vandalism spree in downtown Kelowna – Mar 25, 2019

Several businesses in downtown Kelowna were hit by a vandal over the weekend.

Karmyc Bazaar, CIBC, Kelly O’Bryan’s and Global Okanagan were some of the businesses that had their windows smashed in.

Police said they responded to 49 calls in a three-day period in the downtown core alone. Several people have since been arrested, according to RCMP.

A 26-year-old man is in custody for causing a disturbance after allegedly being involved in five separate incidents, Insp. Paul MacDougall said in a news release.

A 29-year-old man who is accused of multiple acts of damage was also arrested on outstanding warrants, RCMP said.

A 39-year-old man was arrested after allegedly damaging property. He is expected to appear in court for additional charges that include assaulting a peace officer, uttering threats and escaping lawful custody.
