Man, 80, charged with 2nd-degree murder after woman found dead in Etobicoke

Toronto police have charged an 80-year-old man with second-degree murder in connection with the death of a woman found in an Etobicoke apartment on Monday.

Police said they responded to a call around 8:25 p.m. at 57 Widdicombe Hill Blvd in the area of Kipling Avenue and Eglinton Avenue West.

Emergency crews arrived at the apartment building and located an elderly woman who was unconscious, not breathing and with obvious signs of trauma.

Police said the victim, identified as 79-year-old Helen Fronczak, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said 80-year-old Larry Fronczak was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He appeared in court on Tuesday.
