Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after two people were injured in a high-speed single-vehicle crash in St. Catharines.
The Special Investigations Unit says it happened at around 3 a.m. Saturday, as Ontario Provincial Police were conducting radar enforcement on the eastbound QEW.

When an officer tried to stop a “vehicle of interest”, the vehicle kept going and headed onto Highway 406, turning onto the Fourth Avenue ramp before crashing into a retainer wall.
Both the 20-year-old male driver and a 21-year-old male passenger were taken to hospital.
There’s no word on the extent of their injuries.
The SIU investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
