TORONTO – An eight-story building housing several garment factories collapsed near Bangladesh’s capital Wednesday morning, trapping hundreds of workers under rubble and killing dozens, local officials said.
Thousands of volunteers and survivors gathered around the building which pancaked onto itself, searching for family members and assisting emergency crews with the search and recovery effort.
Officials believe the factories within the building were fully staffed at the time of the collapse.
