Manitoba RCMP are urging drivers to avoid an area of the Perimeter Highway after a fatal collision Friday morning.
Police said both westbound lanes of the Perimeter between Pembina Highway and Waverley Street were closed for an extended period.
According to RCMP, the collision involved a car and a semi truck.
Police said the car, driven by a 37-year-old Winnipeg man, crashed into the back of a westbound semi, which was stopped at a traffic light.
The car’s driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said he didn’t appear to be wearing a seatbelt.
The ongoing investigation will determine if speed and alcohol were factors.
The semi driver, 34, wasn’t injured in the incident.
