Man, woman facing drug charges following traffic stop in Lunenburg County

A 43-year-old woman and 37-year-old man are facing drug-related charges following a month-long investigation.

Nova Scotia RCMP say a traffic stop was conducted near Gold River in the investigation, and the suspects were arrested.

Police also searched a home in Western Shore as a result of the investigation, where they say cash, cocaine and several other types of drugs were found.

Jill Corine Demont, 43, of Western Shore, is facing charges of possession of cocaine, methylphenidate, MDMA, psilocybin and methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, as well as possession of benzocaine intending it will be used to traffic cocaine.

Quentin Maurice Sykes, 37, of Bridgewater, faces charges of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and breach of probation.

Both Demont and Sykes appeared in court on March 12. Demont is scheduled to return to Bridgewater provincial court on April 10.
