Toronto police charge tutor with sex assault on 13-year-old student

Toronto police say a 55-year-old tutor is facing sex charges in relation to alleged incidents involving a 13-year-old student.

Police say the man runs a private tutoring service out of his home in the west end of the city, as well as offering tutoring services to high school and university students elsewhere in the city.

Police allege the 13-year-old victim was at his home several times between August 2016 and October 2018.

They allege the man was in touch with her via text and social media and sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions.

Police say Nitinkumar Joshi is charged with one count each of sexual assault and sexual interference.

He is due to appear in court later this month.
