Careless smoking listed as cause of fatal fire in west London
One person is dead after a fire at an apartment building on Proudfoot Lane near Oxford and Wonderland.

Police say the victim, a 57-year-old man, died of smoke inhalation in a fire sparked by careless smoking.
His name has not been released.
Police say it was just before 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24, when emergency crews were called to reports of a fire in an apartment building on Proudfoot Lane.

Officers evacuated the building and say one man suffered life-threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
London police and fire services, as well as the province’s fire marshal’s office, were all involved in the investigation.
