Youth charged after 2 robberies reported in Orillia

A 14-year-old male has been charged after two robberies were reported in Orillia.

According to Orillia OPP, on Feb. 17, just before 4 p.m., a male suspect approached a female in the parking lot of a business on Westridge Boulevard and allegedly stole her purse.

Police say a second incident occurred on Feb. 22, just after 11:30 p.m., when an unknown male approached a woman in the same parking lot and allegedly stole her purse.

Officers say a short while later, a 14-year-old male was arrested and charged with two counts of robbery.

The suspect, who cannot be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Orillia on April 10.
