Drivers looking to use Macleod Trail in Calgary’s southwest will come across detours this weekend, as the province moves to demolish the old Highway 22X bridge as part of the new southwest Calgary ring road.

Macleod Trail will be closed at Highway 22X in both directions from 9 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday, the province said in a news release Friday.

“Detours will be in place for travellers in the area. Motorists should plan ahead and consider alternate routes, such as Deerfoot Trail or 37 Street S.W. in the southwest,” the province said.

The southwest section of the Calgary ring road is scheduled to be completed in the fall 2021.
