An investigation into the trafficking of fentanyl in St. Catharines has resulted in the arrests of two people.
Niagara Regional Police say 25-year-old Brandon Mahon and 30-year-old Ashley MacMillan were taken into custody on outstanding arrest warrants on Tuesday and were found to be in possession of fentanyl with a total estimated street value of approximately $700.
In addition to the charges the pair was already facing, they both now face an additional charge of possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking.

Meanwhile, one of the accused is also facing charges after an assault in St. Catharines.
Shortly before noon on Saturday, officers were called about an assault with a weapon at a residence in the area of Niagara and Church streets, where they found a 46-year-old woman suffering from multiple injuries.
Niagara Regional Police say the victim suffered the wounds as a result of a verbal altercation that turned physical and was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Amy MacMillan is now facing an additional charge of aggravated assault.
