Former Saskatoon teacher charged in historical sexual assault case

Saskatoon police have charged a former teacher in a historical sexual assault investigation.

Police said the 79-year-old man turned himself in on Feb. 13.

He is charged with indecent assault that happened between Jan. 1, 1979 and March 1, 1979.

The victim, a 53-year-old woman, was a student of the accused.

He will make his first court appearance on March 7.

This is the second time he has been charged in a historical sexual assault case.

He was arrested in September 2018 after a 50-year-old woman contacted Calgary police to report a sexual assault.

The incidents are alleged to have taken place between 1977 and 1979 when she was the former teacher’s student.

He is charged with indecent assault.
