2 displaced by apartment fire in west end of Saint John

The Canadian Red Cross says at least two people were displaced by a fire Monday morning at an apartment in Saint John.

The fire was reported around 8 a.m. at 291 Mansfield Place.

An apartment unit on the top floor of a three-storey building was affected.

Disaster volunteers with the Red Cross arranged emergency lodging, meals and helped to buy winter clothing and basics for a woman and her adult nephew.

Other tenants were allowed to return home after smoke was ventilated from the 12-unit building. Some units may need additional cleanup from smoke or water damage.

No injuries were reported.
