Guelph police’s BEAT Team makes 2 arrests, seizes stolen property

Guelph police say a newly-formed unit that specifically deals with property crime has made two arrests and seized a number of items reported stolen.

The Break and Enter and Auto Theft Team (BEAT Team) executed a search warrant on Saturday on Waterloo Avenue.

Police said officers found a large amount of stolen property including tools, copper wire, electrical switches, electronics, sunglasses, sports equipment, credit cards and identity documents.

Police also seized break-in instruments including pry bars, bolt cutters, walkie-talkies, flashlights and wire cutters.

Crack cocaine and crystal meth were found as well, according to police.

A 25-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man, both from Guelph, were arrested and face a number of charges.

Police said the BEAT Team was formed in January and has already led to 31 charges being laid.
