The universities, college and both school boards in Waterloo region have all shut down operations due to Wednesday’s inclement weather.
Environment Canada issued a freezing rain warning for Waterloo region. The agency says it could shift into freezing drizzle which could persist into Thursday morning.

”All schools are closed and all school buses, taxis and special education routes operated by the Waterloo Catholic District School Board and Waterloo Region District School Board are cancelled,” Student Transportation Services of Waterloo Region announced.
In addition, all extended day childcare programs have been cancelled and all evening rental permits were cancelled.
The University of Waterloo announced it has closed its campuses including the ones in Kitchener, Stratford, and Cambridge as well as the Optometry Clinic. In addition, the Bright Starts co-operative early learning centre and the Early Childhood Education Centre have all been shut down.
At Wilfrid Laurier University, the campuses in Waterloo, Brantford and Kitchener are all closed and classes have been cancelled. All exams (including online) have been postponed and most buildings will be locked.
Conestoga College has also cancelled all classes at its campus including those this evening. The P4E Job Fair event has also been cancelled.
The region of Waterloo says garbage collection is underway, but to potentially expect delays.
The Waterloo Region Museum and all public health offices are also closed Wednesday.
The city of Kitchener has also announced the following closures and cancellations:

Waterloo has announced that all libraries in the city have been closed and some other programs have also been cancelled.
In Cambridge, all drop-in programs remain open but scheduled programs have been closed.
