A power outage affected several Edmonton neighbhourhoods Saturday afternoon.
The affected areas included downtown west to Westmount and Inglewood on the north side of the river.
A spokesperson for EPCOR said approximately 9,000 customers were affected by the outage, which has been blamed on an “equipment failure.”
The company estimates the outages started around 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
As of 3:20 p.m. Saturday, power to approximately 500 customers had been restored.
Several areas south of the river were also affected including parts of Bonnie Doon, Strathearn, and Holyrood.
Global News has learned the Kinsmen Rec Centre was also affected by the outage and was evacuated as a precaution.
In a tweet, EPCOR said it was aware of the areas affected and working on a repair.

The outage comes on the same day the City of Edmonton is under an extreme cold warning issued by Environment Canada.

At 3:45 p.m. Saturday, EPCOR tweeted that power had been restored to all affected customers in central Edmonton.
