A Peterborough man was charged after police say a dog was assaulted in the backyard of a Peterborough home last month.
Peterborough police were called on Jan. 24 to check on the well-being of a dog at a Hilliard Street residence.
Police say the accused went into the backyard, punched the dog, and then struck it several times with a metal baseball bat before being confronted by a neighbour.
