Frigid cold temperatures and massive amounts of snow have forced authorities to ban all “illegal activities” and to cancel doing “really dumb things.”

With a wind chill expected to make temperatures feel like the -40s (Celsius) in Indiana Tuesday night, Noblesville Police Department issued a warning to the public, noting all crime will be “prohibited until further notice.”

“Due to the extreme cold temperatures for the next few days, and in an effort to keep citizens and officers out of the elements as much as possible,” the police force said on social media. “All crime and illegal activities in Noblesville and the surrounding areas, will be prohibited until further notice.”

“If you fail to comply with this notice there is a possibility of a fine or even jail time,” the department said.

According to the national weather service, cold temperatures will stick around the Indianapolis area leading up to the weekend. Only then will Noblesville residents will be notified, via “certified mail,” when they can resume breaking the law.

“Once the weather improves we will be sending out a formal notice via certified mail when illegal activities can resume,” the police said. “If you do not receive your formal notice you cannot participate in any criminal endeavours.”

The winter weather hitting Alabama has forced police to cancel “doing really dumb things.”

“Due to the extreme cold and heavy snow predictions all crime and doing really dumb things has been cancelled until further notice,” Priceville Police Department said.

Over in Missouri, authorities are asking residents to keep “criminalling to a minimum.”

“So…we are asking a favour (at least for the next three days): can you keep the criminalling to a minimum? It is REALLY cold out…do yourself (and us) a favour…stay inside,” Warrensburg Police Department said. “Be nice to each other, watch reruns of Say Yes to the Dress (we hear from the firefighters that it’s a really good show). Mmmmkay, thanks!”
