Thieves in southwest Calgary got away with an ATM, leaving behind only a chain, overnight Saturday.
Police said at least three people — heavily clothed with covered hands and faces — were involved in stealing the BMO ATM from the Strathcona Rexall between midnight about 12:15 a.m.
Officers said the suspects pried Rexall’s doors open, put a chain around the ATM and drove away, leaving the chain behind.
Police said there was no security tape of the parking lot, meaning no description of the getaway vehicles.
There was approximately $5,000 cash inside the ATM at the time — the same amount as the property damage caused in the incident.
