Man with ties to organized crime fatally gunned down in Saint-Leonard

A 44-year-old man with alleged ties to organized crime has died after he was gunned down in broad daylight Thursday afternoon in the city’s east end.

Montreal police const. Benoit Boisselle said the incident occurred around 2:40 p.m. at the intersection of Robert and Langelier boulevards in Saint-Leonard.

Sources tell Global News that the victim is Sébastien Beauchamp. He has been linked to the Hells Angels biker gang.

The man was found beside a truck with injuries to his upper body. He was taken to hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition.

Boisselle said bullet casings were found in the area and that four vehicles were marked with bullet holes. A firearm was also found on the scene.

“There were a lot of gunshots,” said Boisselle.

“We don’t know if it was just the suspect shooting in a shootout. There were other cars hit in the crossfire.”

Police officers are meeting with witnesses and the force’s canine unit is canvassing the area for evidence.

No arrests have been made. Boisselle said police do not yet have a description of the suspects.

Police say it is the 30th homicide on the island of Montreal.
