Crews from the Regina Fire Department were on scene at a stubborn house fire in the Lakeview neighbourhood for nearly 10 hours.
Firefighters arrived to a home on the 3100 block of Cameron Street around 10 p.m. where flames and smoke could be seen pouring out a second story window.
Neighbour Craig Adam watched as the fire quickly spread throughout the home. Living next door, he was put on alert to evacuate at a moments notice.
“They did warn us there is a possibility if they didn’t get it under control we would have to leave, so you have four hours to pack everything, what do you do? What would you pack? You know that goes through your mind,” Adam said.

Luckily crews were able to contain the fire, but it would take all night into Tuesday morning before it was officially under control.
“We had substantial resources out all night on this,” Regina Fire Marshal, Randy Ryba said.
“We would have five apparatus crews changing out and rotating because of the cold and the extreme work loads.”
Ryba adds the age of the home made the blaze hard to fight, as neighbours down the street stood by watching as the scene unfolded.
“The fire hydrant is in our yard- or one of them that they used and they blocked off the street with the police car, so we had flashing lights going throughout the night and every time I got up hours and hours of endless work with the water was being poured on the roof,” neighbour, Leslie Mollard said.
As for the owner of the house, multiple neighbours tell Global News the house is on the market and the occupants don’t live there full time but do return periodically.
No one was home at the time of the fire and the cause is still under investigation.
