More charges in alleged pre-paid credit card scam

HALIFAX – Halifax police have laid an additional 53 charges against a man in an alleged pre-paid credit card scam.

The 19-year-old Halifax man was arrested March 24.

At the time, he faced three charges.

Police then discovered the man was linked to an additional 10 fraud-related investigations involving stolen credit card data used to purchase pre-paid credit cards.

Curtis Jay Fountain of Halifax is now facing 56 fraud-related charges.

Investigators say business owners should be careful about gift card or pre-paid credit purchases made by customers who seem knowledgeable about override procedures involving point of sale transactions.
