A 71-year-old woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle in Brampton.
Emergency crews responded to a call at 7:37 a.m. Friday on Ray Lawson Boulevard between McLaughlin Road and Windmill Boulevard.
Peel Paramedics said the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Peel Regional Police said they the woman was crossing west of the intersection when she was hit by a vehicle.
“There were two vehicles in the area at the time of the accident. One was able to divert and avoid, but the other one unfortunately did not,” Const. Danny Martini said.
Authorities said both vehicles remained at the scene.
“The drivers have been actively participating with us. We’re not looking for anyone else,” Marttini said.

Police said the area was dark and the road was wet at the time of the crash.
“The weather we have going on continues to be this rain, low-level visibility, which means for drivers and pedestrians, everybody out there has to be paying more attention,” Marttini said.
The major collision bureau has taken over the investigation.
