There was a heavy police presence following a report of gunshots around 4 p.m. Several blocks of Langside were taped off from the public, including back alleys. Global News’ Skyview One helicopter spotted the Winnipeg police canine unit roaming the area.

Investigators were still at the scene Wednesday morning.

Police said Dixon was not known to them and at this point the incident is not believed to be gang-related. It’s not known what provoked the attack or how the two victims know each other, if at all.
