City dealing with garbage issues as melting season hits

The city of Saskatoon continues to address garbage and recycling collection challenges once the melting season finally hits. - / Global News

SASKATOON – Melting conditions continue to play havoc with garbage collection around Saskatoon.

The challenges brought forth by winter weather are continuing to be addressed by the city.

Officials say in areas where front- street collection is impossible, about 150 temporary staging areas are being set up.

Neighbourhoods with staging areas for cart collection:

  • Varsity View
  • Nutana
  • City Park
  • Pleasant Hill
  • Mayfair
  • Caswell Hill
  • Westmount
  • Brevoort Park

No parking signs have been posted and snow is being cleared to make space for garbage and recycling carts to go at the end of back lanes.

Residents can also take their own garbage to the landfill through Saturday free of charge.

For more information on temporary front-street collection contact the city of Saskatoon at 306-975-2486.
