Two people in hospital after car hits street sweeper on 16th Avenue

CALGARY – Two people were rushed to hospital after the car they were travelling in struck a street sweeper, early Monday morning.

The crash happened near the intersection of 16th Avenue and 19th Street N.E., around 2:30 a.m.

The driver, a man in his 30’s, was trapped inside a blue sedan and had to be rescued from the vehicle.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A female passenger in her 30’s was also taken to hospital in stable condition.

Police say they believe alcohol may have been a factor in the collision.
