Special air quality statement
Environment Canada has issued a special air quality statement for Saskatoon and all of central and southern Saskatchewan for smoke reducing visibility and causing poor air quality.
A westerly flow in the upper levels of the atmosphere is once again spreading smoke from forest fires over Western Canada across Saskatchewan.

Thursday should bring considerable improvement to the air quality over central Saskatchewan, but further south hazy conditions will likely continue to be a periodic issue for several more days.
If you are having difficulty breathing you are advised to avoid spending time outdoors and remain in well-ventilated indoor spaces.

Saskatoon forecast
Wednesday
The mid-week point was marked by a return to smoky conditions across central Saskatchewan with air quality falling to a moderate health risk by mid-morning.
Temperatures slid back to 11 C under mostly sunny skies to start before we warmed back into the mid-20s by noon.
A few clouds slide in above the smoke during the afternoon as the mercury heads up toward the 30s for a daytime high.

Wednesday night
A few more clouds roll through overnight as we cool back into low double digits with hazy conditions sticking around.
Thursday
Partly to mostly cloudy skies are expected to start the day on Thursday along the tail end of a cold front sweeping through that could bring in a slight chance of a few spotty showers during the day.
A breezy wind will also kick in during the day with temperatures a few degrees cooler with an afternoon high in the upper 20s.
Friday
A mix of sun and cloud is expected on Friday with a chance of late day showers and thunderstorms to round off the week.
A slightly warmer day is on tap with the mercury likely to rise back up to flirt with the 30 degree mark in the afternoon.
Weekend Outlook
Another cold front will roll through on Saturday, kicking up gusty winds and bringing in a slight chance of showers with a few clouds.
That trend will continue into Sunday with winds easing back slightly as daytime highs get dunked back into the mid-20s right through the weekend.
