The body of a missing 47-year-old man from Burnaby has been recovered from the waters of Buntzen Lake.

An RCMP dive team was called in Tuesday night to locate the missing man.

Police say he did not know how to swim and was in the water with his family.

Officers responded to a call of someone in distress just before 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

Officers are reminding people to take precautions on the water, adding Buntzen Lake has steep drop-offs just metres from the shoreline.
