B.C. health officials say travellers who passed through the Vancouver International Airport in late July and early August may have been exposed to measles.

B.C.’s Centre for Disease Control says an “infectious individual” travelled through the airport twice in recent weeks.

The person arrived at YVR from Tokyo on an Air Canada flight around 9:30 a.m. on July 30, was at the airport for a few hours, and then boarded an Air Canada Jazz flight to Portland.

The Centre says measles is a highly infectious disease transmitted by airborne spread, and passengers, crew and travellers who may have come into contact with measles should check their immunization status.

Symptoms can include red eyes, a rash, fever and runny nose.
