It’s known as one of the biggest moments in Winnipeg’s history May 15 to June 25, 1919.
Now the Winnipeg General Strike is hitting the big screen.
The Movie Musical Strike! is shooting downtown this month and they are looking for extras to be a part of the iconic scene.

Composer and producer, Danny Schur, says 300 extras are needed for what he calls the biggest volunteer call in Winnipeg history.
Extras are asked to commit 12 hours on Aug. 23 and to come dressed for the year 1919.
Suggested items for men include:
- blazers
- vests
- suspenders

While women are encouraged to wear:
- shawls
- long skirts
- blouses
Hats such as bowlers, fedoras and golf hats finish the outfits.
